LE FINISH DE TAAREEF FAIT LA DIFFÉRENCE

Comme l’on pouvait s’y attendre, les deux pensionnaires de Jean-Claude Rouget ont pris les deux premières places du Prix Daphnis (Gr3). Dans l’ordre inverse de celui des cotes, puisque Taareef (Kitten’s Joy) a réussi à dominer le favori des turfistes, George Patton (War Front), muni d’œillères australiennes pour la première fois. Attentiste, et même à la « poussette » dans le tournant final, Taareef a battu George Patton, animateur de l’épreuve, au finish. Taareef apporte un premier Groupe en France, cette année, à la casaque du cheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, et Jean-Claude Rouget a expliqué concernant ses deux pensionnaires : « Sur cette course, Taareef donne l’impression de pouvoir aller sur plus long, tandis que George Patton va sûrement revenir sur 1.600m. Taareef est un bon cheval, qui a toujours bien couru. Il méritait tout autant que George Patton de remporter son Groupe. Nous verrons en fonction de sa récupération, mais il pourrait courir le Prix Eugène Adam, ou bien attendre le Prix Guillaume d’Ornano, dans lequel nous aurons certainement Almanzor. Pour George Patton, nous allons réfléchir à un engagement sur 1.600m. »

Deux sujets issus de la Poule d’Essai des Poulains.

Taareef et George Patton avaient tous les deux couru la Poule d’Essai des Poulains (Gr1) du 15 mai à Deauville. Tendu, Taareef avait terminé septième, tandis que George Patton, avec son port de tête assez haut, avait conclu quatrième. L’ordre ici s’est inversé, mais c’est avant tout la distance de 1.800m qui a fait la sélection entre ces deux chevaux qui, intrinsèquement, se valent. Taareef confirme dans ce Prix Daphnis sa bonne rentrée du 20 avril, où il avait terminé deuxième, à Chantilly, du Prix de Fontainebleau (Gr3), s’intercalant entre Dicton (Lawman) et Almanzor (Wootton Bassett).

Maximum Aurelius à sa place.

Lauréat de bout en bout du Prix Matchem (L), Maximum Aurelius(Showcasing) disputait sa première épreuve de Groupe. Après un bon parcours dans le sillage de George Patton, il a donné l’impression de pouvoir rivaliser avec lui. Mais il n’a pu que rester dans son proche sillage, se contentant finalement de la troisième place. Son entraîneur, Francis-Henri Graffard, nous a déclaré suite à cette performance : « Je pense qu’il est à sa place. Les deux premiers ont un rating supérieur au sien. J’avais l’impression qu’il avait trouvé le temps long à la fin, mais Pierre-Charles Boudot me dit que non. Il accélère avec eux et ne peut les suivre parce qu’ils lui sont supérieurs. Désormais, il est placé de Groupe. C’est un poulain très sympa qui nous fait plaisir. »

Le premier lauréat de Groupe de Kitten’s Joy en France.

Taareef a été acheté 675.000 dollars par Shadwell en septembre 2014, à Keeneland. Sa mère est Sacred Feather (Carson City), gagnante aux États-Unis et fille de Marianna’s Girl (Dewan), lauréate de Gr3 aux États-Unis. Sous la troisième mère de Taareef, Marianna Trench, on retrouve le nom de Bold Style (Bold Commander), gagnant de Gr2 à Belmont Park.

Taareef est un fils du top-étalon de gazon américain Kitten’s Joy. Il est d’ailleurs son premier gagnant de Groupe en France.
