Ibiza (Redoute’s Choice) était l’une des concurrentes les moins titrées au départ du Morroco Cup Prix Chloé (Gr3), ce dimanche à Chantilly. Pour sa première tentative au niveau Groupe, elle s’est logiquement élancée à 15/1. La représentante de Viktor Timoshenko et d’Andriy Milovanov a débuté cette année, au mois de mai de ses 3ans. Comme sa victoire en atteste, en l’espace de quelques semaines, cette pouliche a beaucoup progressé. Avec ce premier Groupe, elle rattrape donc à toute vitesse le temps perdu.
Un podium pour le premier Groupe d’Ibiza et Dallas Affair. Monroe Bay (Makfi) a rapidement pris la tête de la course, avec Wajnah (Redoute’s Choice) à sa hanche et la future lauréate dans sillage. Stéphane Pasquier a lancé Ibiza à 600m de l’arrivée. Elle a mis du temps à trouver son action, avant de venir se porter à la hauteur de Monroe Bay. Les deux pouliches ont lutté pour la victoire, jusqu’à ce que la future lauréate change de jambes et créé la différence. Ibiza passe le poteau en tête avec trois quarts de longueur d’avance sur Monroe Bay. Dallas Affair (Soldier Hollow), bonne finisseuse, est troisième à une demi-longueur. Comme Ibiza, elle n’avait jamais couru à ce niveau.
« On ne connaît pas ses limites. » Après avoir remporté le Prix Parade d’Amour (Inédites) pour ses débuts, le 1er mai, Ibiza a gravi les échelons petit à petit. Elle avait obtenu le second accessit dans le Prix Ma Biche (Classe 1) de Lightupthenight (Dutch Art), au départ du Prix Jean Prat (Gr1). La pensionnaire de Nicolas Clément s’était ensuite classée deuxième de Normandel (Le Havre) dans le Prix Mélisande (L). Elle se présentait pour la première fois au niveau Groupe ce dimanche et c’est un essai réussi. Son mentor a dit : « C’est une pouliche qui est en net progrès. Elle est la sœur de Zelzal, qui avait gagné le Jean Prat, jour pour jour, l’année dernière. Placée à la corde, elle a eu une piste roulante. On ne connaît pas ses limites. Nous devrions la diriger vers un Gr2, le Prix de la Nonette. Et peut-être qu’elle ira aux États-Unis, mais elle ira en premier lieu à Deauville. »
Monroe Bay aux commandes. Animant le peloton, Monroe Bay a lutté pour la victoire mais a dû s’avouer vaincue dans les cinquante derniers mètres. Pascal Bary, entraîneur de Monroe Bay, nous a dit : « La pouliche court très bien. Elle apprécie la piste de Chantilly et y court toujours bien. Je suis très content. Concernant sa tactique de course, c’est-à-dire aller devant, c’est sa façon de courir. Elle fait toujours comme cela. Je suis très satisfait. » Monroe Bay restait sur une neuvième place dans le Prix de Diane Longines (Gr1) après s’être imposée dans le Prix Finlande (L) et avoir terminé deuxième de Gold Luck (Redoute’s Choice) dans le Prix Vanteaux (Gr3).
Dallas Affair, à revoir cet automne. Auteure d’une bonne fin de course, la pensionnaire de Freddy Head s’est bien comportée dans la phase finale. Elle monte sur la troisième marche du podium, avec une encolure d’avance sur Beyond the Sea (Sea the Stars). Freddy Head nous a confié : « Elle fait une très bonne course. J’ai cru à un moment qu’elle allait le faire mais cela s’est résumé à un sprint. Il n’y a rien à redire, je suis très content. Je ne pense pas qu’elle ait besoin de plus long. Au contraire, je pense plutôt que je la raccourcirai. C’est sa septième course de l’année, elle est peut-être un peu fatiguée. La pouliche va avoir du repos et reviendra à l’automne. » Dallas Affair signe une belle performance en se classant troisième ici, suite à sa victoire du Prix La Sorellina – Tattersalls (L).
La sœur de Zelzal. Ibiza a été élevé par Victor Timoshenko au haras du Quesnay. Cette pouliche a été rachetée 100.000 € chez Arqana. Son frère, Zelzal (Sea the Stars), a grandi au Quesnay pour le même éleveur. Lui aussi lauréat pour ses débuts, au mois de mars de ses 3ans, sur la P.S.F. à Deauville, Zelzal a gravi les échelons pour remporter le Prix Paul de Moussac (Gr3) et le Prix Jean Prat (Gr1). Il a ensuite terminé troisième du Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr1). Olga Prekrasa (Kingmambo), leur mère, qui n’a couru que quatre fois mais a gagné son maiden à Moulins. La troisième mère, State Crystal (High Estate), a remporté les Sun Chariot Stakes (Gr2) et s’est placée dans les Yorkshire Oaks et le Prix Vermeille (Grs1). State Crystal est une sœur de Crystal Music, lauréate du Fillies’ Mile (Gr1) et deuxième des Coronation Stakes et des Guinées irlandaises (Grs1). Ibiza est née de la période française de l’australien Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), lorsqu’il était stationné au haras de Bonneval, où il a également donné Gold Luck (Prix Vanteaux, Gr3).
